[00:00:01] Speaker A: The best music from the 60s to today.
[00:00:05] Speaker B: IPL radio.
You're listening to My Generation on IPL radio. And we have in the studio with us Lynn Miller, who.
You're the pastor of Rockingham. Well, yeah. And now an author.
[00:00:24] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:00:24] Speaker B: Well done.
[00:00:25] Speaker A: My own website, would you believe?
[00:00:26] Speaker B: Got your own website. Very well. Congratulations.
Now, I was just asking you before we came on air how long that book took you to. From concept to finish?
[00:00:38] Speaker A: Oh, from concept, I would probably say that began in around about 20. 20, 21.
[00:00:44] Speaker B: Right.
[00:00:45] Speaker A: But the concept didn't lead to writing straight away.
[00:00:48] Speaker B: Right. Yeah.
[00:00:49] Speaker A: So I would say I wrote over a period of four years, but that worked out to. If I was working eight hours a day to about nine months.
[00:00:59] Speaker B: Right.
[00:00:59] Speaker A: But no writer works eight hours a day. You've got life that intervenes.
[00:01:05] Speaker B: So when you started, did you have the entire concept of the book in your mind or did it grow as you started to write?
[00:01:16] Speaker A: I. I had a fairly decent table of contents frame that just.
I didn't even have to think about. It was just like, oh.
But because it wasn't solid, and because when I first started, I sort of did chapter one and chapter two.
And then after that, I just went, I'm just gonna do what I feel to do. So I wrote this chapter on resurrection life. Then I wrote a chapter on the stages of an ascendant lifestyle. Then I wrote another chapter, and I just kept doing that with no real order, just a sense of, I need to write about this and connect it to eternity now. And then after a while, I thought, I better have a look and see how many chapters I've got. And I had about 15 chapters.
[00:02:02] Speaker B: Oh, good.
[00:02:03] Speaker A: So then I looked at them and went, mm, this is how they fit. So the book's divided into three sections.
[00:02:09] Speaker B: Okay. So. So that, as you wrote, that wasn't the eventual form that came in the. No order they came in?
[00:02:18] Speaker A: No, I just. I just wrote as I felt I thought, oh, I need to. And then after I finished writing the chapters and looked at them, I just went, hmm, okay, this fits here. And I divided the book into three sections.
One is where time touches eternity.
The second section are eternal postures. Basically the kind of eternal value mindsets we need to have to actually maintain not only an eternal perspective, but. But to be able to live on earth as it is in heaven. So I put the relevant chapters in there. And then after that, I thought, oh, these are more about how do we.
How do we become living expressions of eternity now?
How do we manifest that? How do we show or prove to others that we are actually living on earth as it is in heaven. So then I put five chapters in there that were much more relevant to directing people into the answers to that particular section. Yeah.
[00:03:20] Speaker B: Because I think a lot of people sort of overlook the fact that you can have heaven on earth.
And that's great. Looking forward to reading the book. Good.
How does your mind get around the idea of eternity?
[00:03:40] Speaker A: How did I think. I think I already had.
I already had the concept, the revelation that we could live eternity. Now, because with that revelation, and that's a part of why I wrote the book, I had this kind of a grieving, and I'd say it was grieving of the spirit, where I sort of saw and heard too many Christians approaching their life more like, I can't wait till I get to heaven.
It'll be better then.
Or pushing it back there, when really God was saying, pull it down here.
And so it was the grieving of that that actually birthed the book is like, I need to write, I need to encourage people.
I need to present to them.
Because you can't add to the word of God. But when God gives you a theme, it's like the things that you hear that are according to just that one theme. That's what brings revelation. It's like, I never thought of any of all of these things just related to living eternity now. And so when you do, you get fresh revelation because it's attached to just the one thing constantly. And my husband, he's read the book and he's my husband, but honestly, I've seen. I mean, he was just like. He burst in the door and says, oh, my God. You know, I've just got this revelation and that revelation. I'm going, oh, thank you, Jesus.
Because that's the point of it, that it's to help people move forward, to go from glory to glory, to be transformed, to get a revelation that.
That as they grab it, they can actually begin to live it.
[00:05:31] Speaker B: And of course, if you've got a revelation of that, then there's no fear of dying.
[00:05:40] Speaker A: Oh, absolutely not. It's just. It's living, but living as much as possible now rather than waiting when I get there.
[00:05:51] Speaker B: That's right.
[00:05:51] Speaker A: And knowing what that means, what that looks like and how to go about it.
[00:05:55] Speaker B: Yeah. So does your book sort of touch on the other side of our earthly life?
[00:06:05] Speaker A: In what way?
[00:06:07] Speaker B: Of what heaven may be like?
No, Heaven in heaven. Not the heaven on earth.
[00:06:14] Speaker A: No. For this reason, if I spent time touching on what heaven's like, Now I'm telling people, wait till you get to heaven.
[00:06:21] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:06:21] Speaker A: Okay, so what I'm touching is what heaven looks like on earth.
[00:06:25] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:06:26] Speaker A: What, what manifesting Christ looks like on earth. What.
What are the gateways to.
To go through? Obviously, Jesus Christ is the gateway, but what are the. The mindsets and the attitudes to foster to keep your posture of heaven on earth?
So heaven only gets a mention from the point of view of. Heaven gets a mention, but from the point of view of. I do talk about Christ as a living gateway.
I talk about the definition of eternal life, which is knowing the Father and knowing the Son. So I talk about the Father and what is it like to know. What does it look like to really know the Father and be known of Him.
I talk about the Holy Spirit, of course, because Jesus left and said, I'm leaving you the Holy Spirit. So the first section, which is all about where time touches eternity, is about the eternal truth that is time real or just an illusion, is what's the difference between eternity and time. And then the living pathway, which is Christ, the definition of eternal life, which is the Father and the Son, and then the eternal Spirit that he left us. So all of that has that very strong heavenly, but very strong earthly, because Jesus came on earth to manifest the kingdom of heaven.
So that's all in that first section.
[00:07:47] Speaker B: Now, the. The concept of the continuum of time, we, human life sort of exists in a certain time.
Now, my belief has always been that God is in another dimension of time and can intersect our continuum of time at any point.
[00:08:14] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:08:15] Speaker B: Is that sort of consistent with the.
[00:08:18] Speaker A: Absolutely. I talk about where time intersects eternity.
I talk about the view of time. The view of time we have can be very important. The biblical view of time and our view of time can be quite different. We tend to view time.
We can fall into the trap of viewing time in chronological, lineal order, but time in God's perspective is not that at all. In fact, everything in God is actually circular.
Right. Because eternity, there's no end, there's no beginning.
And so I talk about the difference between Chronos time, which is chronological, and Kairos time, which is biblical time. And that's much more attached to events than it is attached to sequences. And so, for example, it would be the difference between asking a person, how was your day today? And I've got this as an example. And they go, oh, look, I had a great day. I got this and this and this and this. Done the diary.
Okay. Whereas someone with a strongly biblical perspective, none of that would be Relevant. They would say, I had a great day because there was an event in that day. On that day I met someone and I was able to share Christ with them or on this time it was significant because I saw the Lord moving in this area or I had an opportunity here or I had a showed love and kindness there. Their events.
Their events.
And you can have those events in and through chronological time if you're mindful of eternity in the kingdom of heaven.
[00:09:59] Speaker B: Yes. And of course, a lot of people in relation to prayer have this blockage when time is not. It's not happening in a time frame that they're desiring.
[00:10:18] Speaker A: What do you mean?
[00:10:19] Speaker B: Well, you might get prayed for healing.
[00:10:23] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:10:25] Speaker B: And six months later you haven't been healed.
[00:10:27] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:10:28] Speaker B: Doesn't mean say you're not healed.
But this idea of time is a bit of a trap for us because we, we think in everything we think about is related to our concept of time.
[00:10:45] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:10:46] Speaker B: And.
[00:10:47] Speaker A: And in the midst of that concept of time and we've also developed an instant cup of coffee mentality. So when the Bible says it's faith and patience that inherit the promises, the patience can be knocked out because I want it now.
And if it's not happening now, I don't even want to think about the patience and the endurance. I need to call those things that be not as though they were to call things out of the unseen realm into the visible realm.
[00:11:16] Speaker B: Yeah, Very good. And do you have a lot of biblical references?
[00:11:22] Speaker A: Absolutely. In my introduction, I make it very clear I love the Word of God. The Word of God speaks for me itself and I don't want to replace it.
So I will say things and I back it up with the Word of God or I introduce it with the word of God because I just. There are words of spirit and life.
And so what I would say is the power in the book is that is saying something and going.
Giving the word of God on it. So I've got scriptural quotes all the way through. I also, I also felt because it's a teaching book, really, the multitude of council is extremely important. So in very, very important key principles, I quote. I've had permission for all of this. I will quote authors. This is what so and so says in his book da da da da.
Not to.
How could I say it's. It's more. I'm not going to say it if I've actually someone has said it already well enough.
[00:12:28] Speaker B: That's why reinvent the wheel.
[00:12:30] Speaker A: Yeah. I don't need to reinvent it. But also I need to show you the multitude of counsel in this that this is how you can agree or not. But basically because of the backup, the principles, there's nothing to disagree about.
If you disagree, I would probably say you probably need to talk to someone because you've possibly got some mindset blocks there. Yeah.
[00:12:53] Speaker B: And have you had this sort of what's the word I'm looking for read by other scholars to get feedback?
[00:13:05] Speaker A: Yeah, I had an apostle in this city read it. I had a very, very strong teacher with strong Greeky break background read it. I had a woman who's a different age pastor, prophetic worship leader read it and said just basically whatever because according to their different giftings I just couldn't believe the different feedback that I got. But overall the feedback was really encouraging.
Just the apostle said outstanding.
But all of them said this will bless many people.
I personally believe it's God's word for God's time. And, and many people, when they ask me about the title they'll go oh this is, this is, this is for now. And I'm going oh that's, that's good.
And in a sense, you know, and I say this humbly, I'm. I sort of expect that because I know that, I know that. I know that God told me to write this book.
[00:14:06] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:14:07] Speaker A: So therefore I, I expect to see him in and through it and in people's responses and questions and things like that. And I do and that's really encouraging.
[00:14:18] Speaker B: Had it printed here in Perth, did you?
[00:14:20] Speaker A: No, no, I have gone through because I'm wanting to get it into Christian bookshops. Hopefully I approach coorong. You have to go through Ingram Spark to do that. So Ingram Spark has printed this book but I've also, I'm going, I'm on Amazon. So you can get, get the book from Imran Spark or from Amazon as well.
[00:14:44] Speaker B: Yeah, very good.
[00:14:45] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:14:46] Speaker B: Because that was going to be my next question.
[00:14:48] Speaker A: We can get a copy from Amazon.
I would probably say, I'd probably say go to Amazon because it's probably an easier process.
[00:15:02] Speaker B: As it turns out I'm actually going to Coorong tomorrow, so.
[00:15:05] Speaker A: Well, it's not in Coorong yet because the launch date's not until Saturday.
So basically you can't get it on Amazon until Saturday because that's the launch date, 19th September. The ebook is available now but as a pre order.
That too will be released on Saturday.
So approaching Coorong will be my next step.
After the book launch I can take copies.
[00:15:30] Speaker B: So where Is the book launch taking place?
[00:15:33] Speaker A: The book launch will be at the Rockingham Baptist Church on Saturday in set 30, Nangara Drive, Waikiki.
[00:15:43] Speaker B: And what time did you say?
[00:15:45] Speaker A: 10 o' clock till 12 o'. Clock.
[00:15:47] Speaker B: Okay, so get down there and meet the author.
[00:15:51] Speaker A: Amen. That would be great.
[00:15:53] Speaker B: Will you be sort of open to having people asking questions if they.
[00:15:58] Speaker A: Oh, I'll do a Q A session. Absolutely. After, after sharing a little bit, I'll do a Q A session. I mean some people who are already budding whiters, they like, they love to know the process as well. Like, you know, how did you do it? What happened? And you know, how did God lead you? That kind of thing. Yeah.
[00:16:16] Speaker B: I guess my other question is, is it an expensive process to get a book published?
[00:16:22] Speaker A: Not as expensive as I thought. I really, I made the decision even though I'm self published.
I didn't want to do it myself. You can, you can get software where you do it yourself.
I really, I really wanted it to look professional and I thought.
[00:16:38] Speaker B: And it does.
[00:16:39] Speaker A: And, and apart from that, I was tired. I thought, I'm enjoying the writing process. I don't really want to go into the. I want someone else to do that for me. And so I was actually blessed with an offering from a couple and that offering covered the entire publishing process. The making of the ebook, doing the book cover for a third of the price that most people. I found a publisher that's like.
Often people charge 4,000, 5,000. I found it for like 1300, 1400. Yeah. Which is pretty good.
[00:17:14] Speaker B: Am I allowed to ask how much the book sells for?
[00:17:18] Speaker A: The book on Amazon is selling for $32.99.
What I did was I. This is what they advise you to do. I just went and looked at all the books that are around this size. This is 270 pages. And that's basically that's what came up. They're mostly charging that price. However, on the book signing, it's 10% off for 1, 15% for 2, 20% off for those who want to order more.
And it's also cheaper because you don't have to pay for shipping.
[00:17:51] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:17:52] Speaker A: For postage.
So it's a lot cheaper. Eventually and in time, as I'm learning and growing, I will be putting discounts even on Amazon etc. But at the moment I've just left it at that.
[00:18:03] Speaker B: So in terms of getting the physical books into Amazon and into coorong, have you got to sort of supply them
[00:18:11] Speaker A: or the physical books don't need to go into Amazon. You order From Amazon and get the physical book.
[00:18:17] Speaker B: No, no, what I'm saying is for Amazon to be able to send.
If I order a book from Amazon.
[00:18:23] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:18:24] Speaker B: They've got to have access to a book to send to me.
[00:18:27] Speaker A: Oh, the book's there. The book.
When I say the book is released on Sunday, that means probably on Monday you can go and you can order the book.
[00:18:37] Speaker B: So they would have.
[00:18:38] Speaker A: They've got it all.
[00:18:39] Speaker B: X amount of copies.
[00:18:41] Speaker A: They've got the original copy. They've got. They've got the original. What did you say? Software from that. They print.
[00:18:49] Speaker B: Okay, so they print it as needed.
[00:18:52] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, they print as needed. They all print as needed.
[00:18:54] Speaker B: You don't have to sort of do 10,000 copies.
[00:18:57] Speaker A: Oh, no, no, no. I, as an author, I ordered from Ingram Spark a number of copies that I can. I ordered as an author, so I ordered bulk.
But most people, they want one or two copies or. And even if they wanted to send someone a copy, they just give them that address and it goes to that person as well. Yeah, but you're better off getting it off me because you don't have to pay at the moment because I've got spare copies.
[00:19:24] Speaker B: Yeah, there you go.
[00:19:25] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:19:25] Speaker B: Now, you've done a number of trips overseas.
Are you promoting your book overseas?
[00:19:33] Speaker A: I have promoted it to key people because the.
The way that I've promoted it in what I would call the more. The poorer situations is I've let them know there's an ebook because ebooks are cheaper because a lot of them don't have the technology.
Okay. And it's literally. They don't even have the kind of addresses we have for it to know where to go. You know, I don't know how they find where they go, but it's often by visual, so there's not often even proper addresses. So the ebook would be best for them. But key people who have got access. Yes, they know about my book and they'll be ordering it. And then I guess, you know, Lord, if you want to bless this book, they will. Word of mouth.
They will share with others and say, you know, you need to read this book.
Hopefully. Yeah.
[00:20:25] Speaker B: Okay. And places like the UK and the
[00:20:29] Speaker A: US this will go through Ingram. It will go to groups like Barnes and Noble, which is uk It'll go to us. It'll go worldwide.
It's just a matter of whether someone picks it up.
They got to be looking for it. So you have to place. I had to learn a lot. I mean, I finished the book last year and basically they say it takes three to six months because of what you've got to learn. I had to learn about metadata, the kind of things people punch in to find something.
So I had to give seven. Seven different kinds of praises and wordings because people could say it this way, that way, that way. Which may help them find the book if they're looking for something like this.
[00:21:08] Speaker B: Y. Yeah, I had something on the. My tongue there.
I. I was listening to you and. And I lost what I was going to say.
Yeah, it'll come back to me. Come back to me. But yeah, congratulations. It's. It's great. And. Oh, I was going to ask you, have you advertised it on YouTube?
[00:21:35] Speaker A: You know, I never even thought about advertising it on YouTube because hopefully this
[00:21:39] Speaker B: interview will go on YouTube.
[00:21:41] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:21:42] Speaker B: So hopefully that has some.
[00:21:45] Speaker A: Yeah, at the moment I'm still like in. In more that step by step. My next step is word is coorong. And then I've put it on Facebook, my own, you know, public and friends thing.
But I haven't sort of thought of going that far, like into.
No, I haven't. But it'll come. It'll come.
[00:22:06] Speaker B: Yeah. And do you feel called to perhaps write another book?
[00:22:11] Speaker A: Absolutely, absolutely. Oh, absolutely.
I need to give myself the rest of this year off of those kind of things, you know, But I need to.
I think even during the book launch is.
It feels healthy for me. It's sort of like a kind of a celebration rather than after all this work, you just, you know, it's on Amazon and that's it.
Especially with like friends and family and people I know. But after that I just need to. I've already written notes, but I sort of need to rejuvenate and rest a little bit because there's a lot been going on even with the nations and lots of other things, so. And probably hopefully sometime next year I'll pick it up.
[00:22:51] Speaker B: So when you say, do you find you do that a lot when you're driving? You know, I thought will come to your mind.
[00:22:59] Speaker A: I had. Before I get this down, I had scraps of paper, little notebooks everywhere. To the point that one time I remember my husband and I went camping and I said, I just need to write.
So we would spend the morning together. I'd write in the afternoon and we would spend the evening together.
And I had all these scraps of paper. I was so tempted to just throw them away. Cause I couldn't remember what was in them. And then I went, no, no, no, Lynne, you wrote those for a reason.
So I went through it and went, oh, I'm so glad I didn't throw this away. And then I just put them into the book, as you know. But you do. You have to as the thought comes. Which is why I'm already writing things down for the next book because as the thought comes, it may not come again.
[00:23:40] Speaker B: That's right.
[00:23:40] Speaker A: And you don't want to lose it. And sometimes it might just be a scripture or a line or two, but it's there because it triggers a whole lot of other things.
So that's already started. Yes.
[00:23:53] Speaker B: Very good.
Okay. Well, really appreciate you coming in and
[00:23:57] Speaker A: thank you for having me.
[00:23:58] Speaker B: We'll try to get along Saturday morning and to the book launch.
[00:24:02] Speaker A: Excellent.
[00:24:03] Speaker B: And wish you all the best. And I know it's going to be successful because as you say, it's been God inspired and he will make sure that it's the right people.
[00:24:16] Speaker A: Yes. Amen.
[00:24:17] Speaker B: Thank you very much.
[00:24:18] Speaker A: Thank you.
